Bien Chann

Bien's joyous graduation day:

Bien was a graduate student with the Atom Trainers. He is currently working at Lincoln Laboratories on lasers. For his Ph. D., he successfully narrowed the bandwidth of several high-power diode lasers to near an angstrom or narrower. This was achieved using a Fabry-Perot device and other common optical pieces, mainly diffraction gratings and etalons. He used this to set new records for He polarization using spin-exchange. Bien loaths laser goggles. His fearless refusal to protect his eyes in the name of science fills the entire group with pride and bewilderment, especially when he mentions how his eyes "tingle" at the end of the day. Bien lives primarily on coffee and a gigantic tin of nuts.

His e-mail is Bien Chann
